NSW: No urgency for dumped Towke's replacement

The NSW Liberal party says there's no urgency to find a replacement candidate for the
federal southern Sydney seat of Cook.

It follows a decision made yesterday not to endorse MICHAEL TOWKE .. a move backed
by JOHN HOWARD.

Mr TOWKE was dumped following allegations of branch stacking .. and inaccuracies on
his preselection nomination form.

A NSW Liberal party spokesperson says they'll wait for the dust to settle .. and start
working through the replacement process in a couple of days.







Mr TOWKE won a pre-selection ballot in July for the safe seat .. beating a field of
high calibre candidates with the support of the party's right faction.

But his candidacy was put on hold following accusations he provided false details in
his preselection application .. and paid membership fees for hundreds of new recruits.

Mr TOWKE's denying he lied on his nomination form.
