WA: DPP on sick leave after throat cancer diagnosis

PERTH, Aug 18 AAP - Western Australia's Director of Public Prosecutions Robert Cockwill take extended sick leave after being diagnosed with throat cancer.

Attorney-General Jim McGinty said Mr Cock would receive treatment for the disease overthe next few months, but his prognosis was good.

He said senior crown prosecutor Simon Stone was likely to be appointed acting DPP this week.

"I wish Robert a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back at work," Mr McGinty said.
